The Welfare Park, which is situated on the edge of the Thornley, is utilised by local football teams as their home pitch. Access by car is only available on match days via the lane just off the road from Thornley to the neighbouring village of Wheatley Hill. The ground and surrounding area is maintained by the Parish Council’s staff.
